New Winter Palace Hotel
2008 - Luxor, Egypt | Concept
It is one of the most unique hotels in Egypt, with a close proximity to the famous Luxor Temple and has a direct view on it, as well as its proximity to the Nile. The development project is intended to redevelop the main hotel building, as well as adding an extension building to it. The concept focused on continuing on the historical architectural value of the old building with a contemporary language, maintaining the luxurious brand name to the hotel. A key design in the new extension is the view window frame overlooking the Karnak Temple. The window frame is designed to direct the visitor’s views towards the temple, with terraces, platforms and rooms designed accordingly. The design process includes a redevelopment of the original masterplan, defining the project’s needs, new accessibility points and developed internal circulation. It also includes the addition of 80 hotel rooms in the new extension to the hotel as well as the addition of a commercial zone and shopping mall and a cultural promenade beside the Winter Palace hotel.
