Between The Revealed and The Concealed | الظاهر والباطنAl-Hadeeth is a record of the words, actions and silent approval of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Quran enjoins Muslims to emulate the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Rwaat Al-Hadeeth (رواة الحديث) , took it upon themselves to exert the effort and due diligence of Al-Riwayah (الرواية) in the form of attahamul (التحامل) , alijazah (الإجازة) and narration of Al-Hadeeth (الحديث) to carefully maintain a record of the intangible heritage that is the sayings, doings and silent approvals of the prophet (pbuh); his moral and congenital traits for the ultimate benefit of the Ummah yielding a wealth knowledge and sciences of Al-Hadeeth. The design embarks from the point of formulating an architectural expression that translates the invaluable and effortful journey of Al-Riwayah (الرواية) for the visitors of the museum. Design tools of spacial organization and spacial sequence morph the exhibition halls to express the development of Al-Hadeeth (الحديث) and coherence of the sciences developed around it. The experience is divided into two segments, the Revealed (الظاهر); and the Concealed (الباطن) metaphor for the meticulous hidden process of attahamul (التحامل) and alijazah (الاجازة), which is unknown to many Muslims but was fundamental for the Hadeeth (الحديث) and its sciences to come about. With underground experience of the exhibition halls, light is incorporated within the design as a representation of the light of Knowledge that Muslim scholars over the course of history harnessed by compilation, codification, studying and explanation of Prophet’s Hadith.
